LOUIS MARIE DE SCHRYVER (French, 1862 – 1942)
Schryver had a long and distinguished career as an artist, beginning with the first public showing of his work at the age of 13. A painter of genre scenes, urban life, landscapes, nudes, portraits and still lifes, he is best known for his paintings of Parisian flower sellers, which command six figure prices today. This is a portrait of Schryver’s gallerist, G. Tedesco, painted in 1902, and housed in a splendid period frame.
